A Dream Kept Alive: Casey Oluoch

Born and raised in Bungoma County in a family with limited means, Casey Oluoch’s education was never guaranteed. However, she remained determined to succeed. Her strong academic performance earned her admiration from teachers and community members. Many stepped in to help whenever she needed support with school requirements.

With this encouragement, Casey excelled in primary school. She secured a place at the prestigious Kenya High School. Through the Bungoma County scholarship program and the support of her grandmother, she began her secondary education with hope.

While in Form Two, Casey met Obuyanzi Foundation’s founder, Pamela Mactolo, during a mentorship program. Pamela was impressed by Casey’s dedication and potential. She took her under her wing and complemented the scholarship. This ensured Casey’s stay in school remained stable and comfortable.

In her third year, the County Scholarship program collapsed. This threatened to cut short her education. However, Obuyanzi Foundation stepped in at the right time. Casey remained in school without disruption. She later excelled in her KCSE examinations, scoring an A (Plain).

Today, Casey is a third-year medical student pursuing an MBChB degree. Obuyanzi Foundation continues to support her through this demanding journey. Beyond financial help, the Foundation provides a safe and nurturing environment. Casey finds encouragement, motivation, and a sense of belonging.

Casey’s dream of becoming a doctor remains alive and within reach. This is because a community chose to stand with her. Together, they invested in her future.

From a journey filled with challenges to a life of purpose and impact, Casey’s story is a powerful reminder of what education and support can achieve. Today, she serves as a medical student, giving hope and healing to others. Her success is not just personal, it is proof that with opportunity, determination, and community support, dreams can become reality.
